Dr Mike Magwire

Research Interests

Mike is interested in the genetic architecture of viral resistance in Drosophila melanogaster. Currently he is mapping several viral resistance genes in D. melanogaster using deficiency mapping and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping techniques. Once mapped, he plans on looking at associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and viral susceptibility. Mike has previously examined genes involved in the extension of D. melanogaster life span.
